FAX won't sound after fax is sent

I have had my HP 8710 for about 6 months now.  It has never made a sound upon completing the sending of a fax.  All my previous machines did make a sound, including my HP 8600 which I replaced with the HP 8710.  I have found a setting which prints a confirmation page upon a fax successfully sent, but I don't want a piece of paper wasted each time.  I merely want a sound, a chime, to let me know from across the room that the fax went through properly whenever I send one.  

Is there some way of making the HP8710 give me that sound?  I don't see the setting option for a sound anywhere.

If "fax complete" is considered by the printer to be a "Fax Sound", you can change the volume of Fax Sounds on the Printer Control Panel.

Set the fax sound volume
You can change the volume of fax sounds.
To set the fax sound volume

1 .From the printer control panel display, touch Fax .

2.T ouch Setup , and then touch Preferences .

3. Touch Fax Volume.

4. Touch to select Soft, Loud, or Off .
You may also access this feature by pressing (the Fax Status button) on the Home screen.

OR, as a different approach, you can perhaps set up Email Alerts (if the printer supports such).

Have the printer issue an email alert if the fax fails.

Example

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Email Alerts

1. Set the Server information
2. Set an Alert Destination (click the tiny "people" icon and add the email address you set up in "Email Server")
3. Open Alert Settings > Check box(es) to enable alerts.
