Hi @ALEX5465

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the issue. I’m really sorry you’re running into this—scanning a document only to find it won’t attach when sharing can be incredibly frustrating, especially when everything else seems to be working fine.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help resolve it:

1. Verify Scan Format and Location

  • Open HP Smart → Go to Scan → Complete a test scan.
  • Check the Save Location and File Format (PDF or JPEG).
  • Navigate to the saved file manually and try attaching it from there.

2. Check File Size and Type

Some email or sharing platforms restrict:

  • File size (e.g., max 25 MB for email)
  • File type (PDF and JPEG are safest)

Try compressing the file or saving in a different format via HP Smart.

3. Use HP Smart’s Share Feature

Instead of manually attaching:

  • Open HP SmartScan History
  • Select the scanned file → Tap Share
  • Choose Email, Cloud, or Save to PC

This method ensures compatibility and bypasses manual attachment errors.

4.  Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

5. Check Windows Permissions

If HP Smart or your email app lacks permission to access files:

  • Go to SettingsPrivacy & SecurityFile System
  • Ensure apps like HP Smart and your email client have access

You're close—we’ll get this working smoothly.
