I am trying to configure Scan to Email functionality for an HP Color Laserjet MFP M480. This is for a Microsoft 365 organization. I've set up a dedicated mailbox for this function with an email license, however the credentials for this mailbox are not being accepted when setting up the SMTP server.
I have confirmed that the username and password are correct, I can sign into Office 365 with these credentials. MFA is not enabled, although I have tried setting it up and using an app password, with no success. Self Service Password reset is also not enabled for this user.
I have tried using SMTP authentication (using smtp.office365.com, with port 587) as well as Direct Send (using myorganization-com.mail.protection.**bleep** and port 25), in both cases it's telling me the username or password is incorrect. I've tried using "Server does not require authentication" instead of using the dedicated mailbox, and the initial access check passes, but when we try to send a test email it fails.
I've tried the setup with TLS enabled and disabled, and also with "Require certificate verification for outgoing connections" enabled and disabled but it's the same either way.
I've also confirmed that SMTP authentication is enabled for the organization.
I'm not sure what I am missing here, any help is appreciated.

I have found more than once that after making changes 2 or 3 times, it will never work. In those cases I have completely reset the printer by formatting the harddrive through the preboot menu and reinstalling the current firmware.
