Hi @JaySchlum,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345)" indicates that there's an issue with the scanner connection on your HP printer when scanning over the Wi-Fi network. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your printer and your computer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.

Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer and that the connection is stable. You can verify the network connection status on the printer's control panel or through its web interface.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes improve scanner performance and resolve connectivity issues.

Verify Scanner Settings: Check the scanner settings on your printer to ensure that scanning over the network is enabled and properly configured. You may need to consult the printer's user manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to access and adjust these settings.

Restart Router: If you're still experiencing connectivity issues, try restarting your Wi-Fi router. Sometimes, issues with the router can affect the connection between the printer and the computer.

Check Firewall and Security Software: Make sure that your firewall or security software is not blocking the scanner connection. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer and try scanning again to see if the issue is resolved.

Reinstall Scanner Drivers: Uninstall the scanner drivers from your computer and then reinstall them. Sometimes, corrupted or outdated drivers can cause scanner connectivity issues.

Try a Different Scanning Application: If you're using a specific scanning application or software, try using a different one to see if the issue is related to the software you're using. You can also try scanning from the built-in scanning functionality on your computer (such as Windows Fax and Scan on Windows or Image Capture on Mac).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
