Product: HP Pro AIO 8620e and HP Pro AIO 8500 A909g
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have seen in the instructions, on the printer itself, and several other places to only use the fax line provided with the HP printers that come with the printers.  I have misplaced the line for the older model 8500 A909g.  It still works as well as the 8620.  I fax a lot.  Does anyone know what is special about the fax line that comes with the printer?

 

Can you use a regular phone cord?

 

Does the cord that comes with the printer have any physical differences that would make it look different from the many extra phone lines I have at home?

Hi,

You can use a regular phone cord, but be sure to use a cord with connectors that have two wire leads, not four:
