Hi @Dianne54,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8620 is having trouble sending multiple pages via fax, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Document Feeder

  • Clean the document feeder: Dust and debris can cause feeding issues. Use a lint-free cloth and a bit of water to gently clean the rollers.
  • Check for obstructions: Make sure there are no paper clips, staples, or other objects in the document feeder.
  • Ensure paper alignment: Make sure the pages are properly aligned and not bent or wrinkled.

2. Examine the Fax Settings

  • Resolution settings: If the fax resolution is set too high, it may struggle to transmit large documents. Try lowering the resolution.
  • Compression settings: Enable fax compression if it’s available. This can help with sending larger documents.

3. Connection and Line Quality

  • Check the phone line: Ensure the phone line is securely connected to both the fax machine and the wall jack.
  • Test the phone line quality: Use a regular phone to check for static or noise on the line. A noisy line can cause fax failures.
  • Turn off call waiting: If your phone line has call waiting, it can interrupt fax transmission. Temporarily disable it if possible.

4. Firmware and Software Updates

  • Update firmware: Check if there’s a firmware update available for your HP Officejet Pro 8620. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
    • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model to find firmware updates.
  • Check for software updates: Ensure your fax software or driver is up to date.

5. Memory and Page Limitations

  • Check memory: Ensure the printer’s memory is not full. If the printer’s memory is overloaded, it may fail to send large faxes.
  • Page limitations: Some fax machines have limitations on the number of pages they can send in one transmission. Try sending fewer pages at a time.

6. Reboot the Printer

  • Power cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity and functionality issues.

7. Test with a Single Page

  • Single page test: Try sending a single-page document to ensure the basic functionality is working. If it sends successfully, the issue may be with larger documents.

8. Alternative Methods

  • Use flatbed scanner: If the document feeder continues to fail, try scanning the pages individually using the flatbed scanner and then sending the fax.
  • Digital fax services: Consider using a digital fax service to send your documents, which can bypass the hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
