Printer HP Envy 7858 is answering voice mail messages and the rings (5) interfere with the info- how do I keep the printer fax system from not responding to voicemail

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the fax issue. 

When the phone rings, the printer waits and counts the number of telephone rings before it answers the call - 

If the phone line is shared with your voice calls, choose a number rings that provides enough time for you to answer the phone before the printer picks up a call.

If the phone line is shared with an answering machine, choose a number to pick up that is two rings more than the answering machine. Doing so ensures the answering machine answers the phone. So, if the answering machine answers calls in 5 or 6 rings, then the fax to be setup to 8 or 10 rings. 

To set the number of rings before answering -

1. From the printer control panel display, touch Fax.

2. Touch Setup , and then touch Preferences.

3. Touch Rings to Answer.

4. Touch to set the number of rings.

5. Touch Done .

Thank you very very much for your assistance.  For the time being I have just unplugged the phone from the printer because I do not use the fax very much, and I will plug it in when I expect a fax or plan to send one.
