HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On two occasions, I've sent a FAX of a PDF document that contained numerous  text answers added to it.  I was using the "HP Mobile FAX" from the HP Smart application on my OfficeJet 5258.  In both cases, the added text answers did not show up on the receiving end.  The PDF document was downloaded from a site, opened, text answers added, and saved using the Ashampoo PDF application.  When creating the FAX, I added the text document and a copy of a legal certificate to the fax then sent it.  Mobile FAX went through the process of sending the FAX and after completing, indicated it had been sent successfully.  The recipient did receive the FAX on both occasions but on both occasions, the typed in text answers did not display (go through).  Would certainly like to know what the issue might be.  TIA!

Disclaimer

I do not know how the Mobile Fax works to the extent whether it can - or cannot - send certain legal documents.

The following is a guess...

Some legal documents are protected against email transmission.

I have ran across this limitation when transmitting / sending certain types of legal tax or estate documents that have to be edited (content added) before the document is returned to the sender.

What?

Some legal documents can be downloaded from the source but must be handled using only those instructions provided by the sender.

Some legal documents can be completed online (editing using PDF edit software).

The completed document might be protected against using email to transmit the edited document.

Some legal documents, once completed, are also protected against printing or even saving the completed PDF document on your computer.

IF the PDF content was protected in this manner, then added document content might not be included when the document was delivered using Mobile Fax and then printed on the receiving end.

What?  If the Mobile Fax was not sent using the Fax hardware on the printer, the mechanism used to transmit the fax to the recipient might not meet the requirements for faxing that kind of document.

Try using the Fax on the printer to fax the document to your recipient.
