When I scan either through auto feeder or glass panel the resulting PDF file has a yellow background on it. When I tried to copy in color the resulting paper has a yellow background as well. However, when I copy in black and white it is fine. The scanner light emits yellow light as well. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you facing the same issue while printing from the computer?
Have you tried scanning from a different application?
Are you facing this issue after an update?
Try to make a blank copy and check if you are facing the same issue?
HAve you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?
I suggest you do a Hard Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8600-premium-e-all-in-one-printer-series-n911/...
Restart the printer.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

Thank you for your reply.
Following are are the answers to your questions.
1. Printing from computer is perfectly fine( in color).
2. I scan both from auto feeder and glass panel. Also I tried to just do a preview under copy option. It showed yellow background on all of them.
3. I actually just updated the software last week. Just performed the reset as you stated. It still have the same problem.
Also the scanning light is YELLOW. Is it suppose to be bright white? I just think it is not calibrating right. Had same issue one year ago. Don’t remember what I did to fix it. Do you know how the calibration works? Maybe it is not sensing the right background when the printer resets?

Let's update the printer firmware and Mac software:
Restart the printer and the MAC
Then, follow the below steps to remove the printer and add the printer as AirPrint.
Step 1: Remove multiple printers from the printer list
Check for multiple devices in the Printers list, and then remove any extra entries other than one in idle status.
-
Search the Mac for Print, and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.
-
Find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices.
Figure : Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of a printer in the list
-
If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button
at the bottom of the list. Leave one 'idle' printer in the list that matches your printer if available and use this printer as the Default printer.
-
Try printing again.
-
If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.
-
If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.
-
Step 2: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer
Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. Doing so creates a new printing session.
-
Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.
-
In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button
to delete it.
-
Click the Add button
.
-
Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

-
Click Print Using or Use.
-
Select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status
.

Use HP easy scan for the scanning feature.

Printer is using HP Easy Scan and Operating System is macOS Mojave Version 10.14.2. My computer and printer are both up to date already. However, I did followed the steps to create a new printer with airprint and delete the old ones. But scan still shows yellow background.
Following is the screen shot of the scanning result. When printing it will show a yellow paper.

How do I perform following tasks?
"clean up flatbed scaner, calibration scaner and unplug flex cable scaner"
Are you talking about external surfaces? or do I have to take apart the printer? Please advise in more detail. Thank you.
