HP C309a Photosmart 4-in-1
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am using a MagicJack. I have the error msg "USB device not compatible--remove from printer". HOWEVER, the fax tests and everything check out fine. ANY WAY to remove the msg from the printer screen? Also, I already sent one fax, received it AND tried calling the line which also has a phone on it. Everything seems ok, I'd just like to get that msg off. tthe screenIMG_20171009_163207969_HDR-800x600.jpgYour HP device passed all fax testsYour HP device passed all fax tests

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One Printer - C309a. I read that the printer displays a message saying "remove USB from printer" (Thanks for the images). Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON. If there is any other device or cable connected then disconnect that too.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue persists then let us perform a semi-full reset on your printer. I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the outcome. All the best! 🙂
