Pickels2011, relax.  My comment wasn't to you.  It was to JMT0808 .  He appeared to still be looking for help and not just complaining to the universe.   

 

Again, I don't have a dog in this fight.  I'm not with HP.  I'm a product user just like you.  I came to this forum myself looking for help on this issue.  I was as frustrated as everyone else when this issue affected me, and I don't like workarounds either.  Still, I wasn't going to replace my $400 office machine just becasue of this issue.  So, after reading some of the information in the forum, and after several hours of trial and error, I found a way to mitigate the issue, and just tried to help others out by sharing a solution that actually does work.  You and others can do whatever you want, but it doesn't look like HP is working to fix the issue.  That being the case, I made the information available for anyone interested in getting the fuctionality back immediately, and not waiting on a fix that may never come from HP.

Sorry.    Over-reacted.  This issue has plagued me for a couple of years and I finally resigned myself that HP wasn't going to address it.  They blamed ATT for changing their security protocols, hence the need for another email route.  I don't buy it because I see notes from people with different ISP's complaining about the same issue. 

My workaround is to simply scan the document to my pc and insert the scan into my regular email, much the same as you are doing except I skip the need for another email address, particularly Google.

I have the same issue. I follow the above to set up my outgoing email and when I test I get server error

Ryannoscar, which instructions did your follow?  Did you go back to the instructions posted on 8/29/2018, that suggests setting up and unsecured gmail account?
