Hello! Is it necessary to have both color and black ink cartridges in my HP 1250 Fax machine in order for it to work. I never use color [it just dries up], but have always purchased the color cartridge. If my fax will work without the color cartridge, that would save me a lot of $$$. Greatly appreciate any help on this question...

Hello, @saj51
Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help 🙂
I understand that you are having issues with the fax machine.
I'm afraid you need the color cartridge on the printer. You can continue printing until the color cartridge is completely depleted, but once depleted, you will be asked to replace the cartridge.
NB: Try taking out the tri-color cartridge and insert only the black cartridge. Some printers do support printing using the single cartridge mode. If your printer supports it, then you should be able to use with only one cartridge installed.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
Good luck 🙂

DVortex:
Thank you so much for the information you provided. As you suggested, I'll remove the color cartridge to find out if my fax machine will work without it. Hopefully, it will, but if not, your response and suggestion is very much appreciated
