HP 3830 All in One Printer scanner
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP 3830 prints from the HP Pavilion g7 Laptop running Windows 10. I've ran through HP Print and Scan doctor several times with no fixes.

Turned off PC , Turned off Printer. Rebooted Etc. Nothing seems to work. Love the printer scanner if it would not drop off line. Also turned off Firewalls and still no scan.

Once I select scan HP 3830 , it recognizes my laptop, I select my laptop, scan to PDF, It attempts for connect to my laptop and fails with error on Printer stating on of 3 issues to resolve.

System connection to printer lost - no it still prints fine

PDF converter in not installed- It Is installed  and was working previously
The scan application is currently in use - actually a pop up on my computer shows HP Scan attempted to communicate with scanner and failed.

Provides the 3 steps: turn On Off, Cables check, Verify scan features, and finally went through SCAN FIX several times.

Thank you for all reply's,  After MANY frustrating hours I decided to remove completely and re-install the HP FULL version supporting the HP 3830 All in One Printer. My first installation was a success and lasted about 3 days. then it stop scanning from the printer. I re-installed the Full version and it lasted about 2 days then stopped scanning but print from PC always worked. The 3rd time I used Windows Apps and features and removed ALL HP printer apps. Note: There was still HP Basic printer still installed along with the full version, I removed both and re-installed the Full version. It is sad how many times the HP install asks you to accept their ink offer. They continue to prompt and mislead you if you don't accept it,  you will not complete the install:-(

This last install I used the HP smart App to scan and print, again it scans but could not defined where to scan to, I have reservations of scanning to the "Cloud",. (sorry Old School). If anyone can help me with scan path please do, for now my scanning issue is resolved.

@gfishin1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues scanning.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it and check whether the issue is resolved.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
