My HP 5740 does not give me an option to email It was fine for 2 years. I have it connected to an Apple laptop.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Scan to Email" issue. 

 

To better assist you - Are you trying to scan using the Apple Image Capture? 

 

The scan to email option has changed with the macOS 10.15, from the "Scan To" drop-down option, select Other. Then click on Application and then Mail.
