Hi @BigPapa76,m
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP 6001 All-in-One printer is not responding when you press the Copy buttons on the printer. Let’s go through a few steps to check and resolve this issue.
1. Restart the Printer
Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.
Plug it back in and power it on.
This often resolves temporary errors that prevent buttons from working.
2. Check for Paper or Obstructions
Open the scanner lid and make sure there is no paper or debris blocking the scanner or control panel.
Remove any loose objects or torn paper inside the printer.
3. Reset the Printer
Press and hold the Power button for 10–15 seconds to reset the printer’s internal electronics.
Release and turn the printer back on.
4. Check Firmware
Connect the printer to your computer.
Go to the HP Support website and check if there’s a firmware update for your HP 6001 model.
Install any updates and restart the printer.
5. Test the Copy Function via Software
Use the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to perform a copy.
If copying works through the software but not the printer buttons, it indicates a control panel or button issue rather than the printer mechanism.
6. Perform a Hard Reset
With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back.
Wait 60 seconds.
While unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
Plug it back in and power on.
I hope this helps.
