HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In the web ui for my printer (HP 6970), under Scan, the message states "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. "  The knowledgebase says to turn go to HP Assistant

  • Go to the Scan section.
  • Select Manage Scan to Computer.
  • Click Enable.

Sounds great, but, there's no "Scan" section in HP Assistant.

How do I fix this and regain scanning functionality with my printer?

Hello,

The Scan to Computer function is only supported by full featured software and drivers: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ6970/Full_Webpack-40.15.1230-OJ6970_Full_Webpac....

Regarding the scanning in the Web interface, it must be activated.

To activate the Webscan from EWS function, please follow the procedure below:

    1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Wireless () icon to retrieve the printer IP address.
    2. Launch a web page, and then type this address in the address bar and press Enter key. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) opens.
    3. Click the Settings tab, then under Security, click Administrator Settings.
    4. Under Enable/Disable Features, then check the Enable All box, and then click Apply.
    5. Click on OK.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Thank you for that fix, it got the web ui to enable scanning.

However, I now have another issue: When I open HP Printer Assistant, there are main icons on the top, which includes an icon for "Print, Scan & Fax".  I am unable to select this icon.  I can select the other icons (Connected, Shop, Help, and Tools), but, not the icon that will take me to the Print, Scan & Fax settings.
