HP 6978 Slow scanning and scanner glass time out

Over the past few weeks my scanning has been so slow both with the document feeder and the scanner glass. However, today, the scanner glass just stopped working. It worked for most of my morning then by lunchtime it would just spin and spin saying it was scanning and then it basically times out. I get a message saying that there is a problem with the scanner. I've restarted the printer, unplugged it and plugged it back in. I've made sure the firmware was updated and all other updates were up to date and installed. What is going on and how can I get the scanner to work correctly and quicker? I do a lot of scanning for my work with this printer and need this to be fixed!!

Hi @valdridge44,

 

I'd like to help!

 

Plug the printer into a direct wall outlet and try and make a copy with the scanner lid up and check if the scanner bar lights up or moves?

 

If it does not, it is a hardware issue. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer
