HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

In Corel Paintshop pro when attempting to IMPORT from a scanner the following error message appears....
"There appears to be  no camera scanner or other WIA device present. Please check with the manufacturer to see if the hardware you are attempting to access provides a WIA device driver."

Corel advise me that if Twain-64 is not visible in Windows the scanner doesn't support 64 bit applications.
Is there a solution.

Hi @JeffLake,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering issues with your HP ENVY Inspire 7220e printer when trying to scan directly into Corel PaintShop Pro 2020. Here's how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check for TWAIN Driver Installation

  • Verify Driver Installation: Make sure you have the latest HP driver installed for your ENVY Inspire 7220e. You can download it from the HP Support website.
  • TWAIN vs. WIA: Corel PaintShop Pro typically works better with TWAIN drivers rather than WIA. Ensure that the TWAIN driver is installed.

Install the Full Feature Software

  • If you haven't already, install the Full Feature Software from HP, as it includes the necessary drivers (including TWAIN). Follow these steps:
    1. Go to the HP Support website.
    2. Search for your printer model (ENVY Inspire 7220e).
    3. Download and install the latest drivers and software for your operating system.

Access Scanner Settings in Windows

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP printer and ensure that it is set as the default printer.
  • Click on Manage, then click Scanner Properties to check if it’s recognized and functioning properly.

Check PaintShop Pro Settings

  • In Corel PaintShop Pro, go to File > Import > From Scanner and see if the scanner appears in the list.
  • If it does, select it and attempt to import again.

Use a Third-Party TWAIN Driver

  • If your scanner does not support 64-bit applications directly, you can try using third-party software that provides a TWAIN driver. Some users have had success with tools like VueScan or SilverFast. These applications often have broader compatibility with various scanners.

Testing with Other Applications

  • Try scanning with another application that supports TWAIN, like Windows Fax and Scan or a different imaging program. This can help determine if the issue is specific to PaintShop Pro.

Run Windows Update

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can help resolve driver issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
