I have a scan-to-email set up. Worked wonderfully until today. Normal tasks are quick scans to emails to attach to reports . Received the email/password auth error when trying to send a scan. I read some posts to review and update unsecured apps in **bleep** to allow access. That has never been an issue. I have been looking for posts where to update my email and password for scan to email as well with little success.
I also checked HP Connected and found no Scan-to-Email set up/Edit options.

Hi,
A such may occur due to your Google account security settings.
First, open the following link and login to the same account as you set for the printer.
Note: if you are connected, sign out from your account, select your account and manually enter the password to ensure you indeed use the correct password, then click on Security from the left pane:
https://myaccount.google.com/security
Within the Signing in to Google section, check the "2-Step Verification" velue.
If it is set as "On", create and use an App-Specific Password with the printer:
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en
If it is set as "Off", Within the Less secure app access section ensure that the feature is on.
If it is Off, click on Turn on access (not recommended) and toggle on the feature. Otherwise the verification will fail.
Once you are done run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem been resolved.

Thanks for the response.
I followed your steps (2-step Google Auth and the App Password - Generate). Can you walk me through how to test? Should I try to scan-to-email on my printer? Or is there a path to the HP 8710 scan-to-email dialog window (Mac OS) to confirm my google account and the 16 letter -generated password?
Thanks.

Hi,
This should be done from the EWS page of the printer, from there configure an Outgoing Email Profile:

Hello -
Returning to this issue. Still cannot get the Auth to work. I have visited the EWS page repeatedly and tried to update passwords to enable the testing function. Still receive the same error (emaill/password) incorrect. I notice that the the password field defaults back to the original password regardless of "applying" changes.
Can I just "factory reset" and start over? It is beyond frustrating. Again scan-to-email was working correctly until about 4/1.
Are there any other work arounds? Last chance before I remove HP from the tech stack.

Please visit the same page again.
https://myaccount.google.com/security
If you’re logged in, click the top-side user icon/initials and log out.
Now log back in and manually type the password and press OK, to ensure you’re not incorrectly use an old password as an example.
Can you successfully sign on after typing the password?
If so, click on Security and make sure that Less Secure Apps is enabled indeed after logging back on.
Please let me know the results,
Shlomi

Still cannot get my primary **bleep** address to Auth in the EWA Scan-to-email. Logged off multiple times., successfully logged into my **bleep** account. Logged into EWS. Manually added updated password and still receive the auth error. I did create an alternate **bleep** address, tested and that worked. But this primary setup is not allowing me to update the the password. It keeps defaulting even after it shows the characters/length of password have been applied and accepted.

If you are not using HP Instant Ink service, You may go to the Settings tab and select Restore Defaults and then Restore Factory Defaults, this will remove any printer settings, than you may reconfigure the wireless connection if necessary by following the Wireless Setup Wizard and then reconfigure the account, although for my personal experience, the printer doesn't store any cache and if such information is given for the specific user, something with the user itself is the problem, if you are using HP Instant Ink let me know and don't take any such step...

Is there any way to get the EWS Scan-to-email page to stop the password-autofill default? I update the password field and still get the auth login error (emil/password) error message. I have double-checked the auto-fill settings for my passwords and all checks out.
Please advise.
