HP 8710 Scan-to-email auth connection issue (Google)

I have a scan-to-email set up.  Worked wonderfully until today. Normal tasks are quick scans to emails to attach to reports . Received the email/password auth error when trying to send a scan.   I read some posts to review and update unsecured apps in **bleep** to allow access.  That has never been an issue.  I have been looking for posts where to update my email and password for scan to email as well with little success.

I also checked HP Connected and found no Scan-to-Email set up/Edit options.

Hi,
A such may occur due to your Google account security settings.

First, open the following link and login to the same account as you set for the printer.

Note: if you are connected, sign out from your account, select your account and manually enter the password to ensure you indeed use the correct password, then click on Security from the left pane:
https://myaccount.google.com/security

Within the Signing in to Google section, check the "2-Step Verification" velue.

If it is set as "On", create and use an App-Specific Password with the printer:

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en

If it is set as "Off", Within the Less secure app access section ensure that the feature is on.

If it is Off, click on Turn on access (not recommended) and toggle on the feature. Otherwise the verification will fail.
Once you are done run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem been resolved.

Regards,
Shlomi

Thanks for the response.

I followed your steps (2-step Google Auth and the App Password - Generate).  Can you walk me through how to test?  Should I try to scan-to-email on my printer?  Or is there a path to the HP 8710 scan-to-email dialog window (Mac OS) to confirm my google account and the 16 letter -generated password?

Thanks.

Sal

Hi,

This should be done from the EWS page of the printer, from there configure an Outgoing Email Profile:

Thanks again.....tested with existing email/password and updated **bleep** password and still receive a Auth error.  Double-checked my Google app settings and everything seems in order.

Suggestions?
