Scan to Email had been working with a CompuServe "from" account. CompuServe required me to change to an application password. I couldn't get it to pass the Scan to Email setup test. I got "Incorrect credentials". After a number of tries, I switched the "Outgoing Email Settings" to what I was using for Email Alerts. Same account, server, port, options. Email alerts work. Scan to Email setup test fails with the same setup information. It still gives "Incorrect credentials". What's going wrong?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to set up scan to email, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Restore the printer to the original factory settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( setup).

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Settings.

5. Select Scan.

6. Touch Restore. A message appears stating that the settings will be restored.

7. Touch Yes.

To set up the outgoing email profile from the printer software

1. Open the HP printer software. For more information, see Open the HP printer software (Windows).

2. Click Print, Scan & Fax, and then click Scan.

3. Click Scan to E-mail Wizard.

4. Click New, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
