HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw scanner plastic film replacement

I just bought the HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw and it's been GREAT! However I removed the plastic film over the scanner feeder only to realize that this was not meant to be removed as it causes the pages to jam every single time. I looked in the manual, and there's NO mention of this. Very confusing, as it looks exactly like the plastic film that comes on pretty much all new electronics that is designed to be removed before use. 

I've been able to fix the problem with a bit of Scotch tape for now, but this is not a permanent solution (it's not totally clear and will likely affect the scan quality)—and given that I've just paid nearly $600 for this machine, I can't imagine why there wouldn't be a way to order a bit of replacement plastic film (though reading other similar support tickets, it sounds like HP does not make replacement parts available). The rest of the machine is just fine. It was just this misleading sticker with zero instructions from the manual to prevent me from making a a silly but somehow irreversible mistake in removing it. Please tell me there's a way to order a replacement of this **bleep** sticker.

Hi there! Thanks so much for this information. This printer, however, is not listed as one that uses this part on the HP website (see below), so before I spend nearly $90 on it, is there any way to confirm that it will work? Thanks again for your assistance!

Wow, that is a huge price difference between Canada and US.

Makes me wonder if Canadian price will skyrocket when they come back into stock.

I have no 200 series products in stock to compare it to, however looking at some parts, the 283 uses the same scanner as the 281 and websites list the 281 as using this part. I would suggest you look at the second link I provided as the cost from that source is much better. Also likely a lot of 3rd party parts on Ebay.
