HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

Hi,

I have the following printer a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

I have a question about installation.

There is a plastic strip under ADF Scanner tray that I am unsure I am meant to remove or not.

Please see the images: Full_Picture.JPEG and Partial_Picture.JPEG

I have indicated it with the red and blue arrows on the picture.

My questions:

1. Should I remove this plastic strip?
2. What is it used for.

Thanks
Ward

DO NOT REMOVE!!!! That strip is what guides the paper into the exit rollers of the ADF. If you remove it the ADF will jam constantly. The icon you circled clearly denotes Do not remove and yet people still do. Don't feel singled out,  I have had some IT pros I deal with remove them. Costs about $30.00 for a replacement and that is not covered under warranty.

Hi,

Repairtrooper thanks so much. I had a feeling not to remove it.

I checked in the manual and could not find any specific mention of it - which made me curious.  (Unless it is documented and I missed it).

Fortunately, I have not removed it.

Thanks again for clearing this up.
