Try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart Your Printer & Computer

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it for 2 minutes, and then plug it back in.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try scanning again.

2. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix scanning issues.

3. Check Scanner Software & Drivers

For Windows:

  • Open Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall HP printer software.
  • Go to the HP DeskJet 2700 Drivers page and install the latest Full Feature Driver.
  • Restart your PC and try scanning again.

For macOS:

  • If scanning does not work, reset the printing system:

4. Check Windows Scan Service

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  • Make sure it is Running and set to Automatic.
  • If it is Stopped, right-click and select Start.

5. Try Using Windows Fax & Scan or Paint

  • Open Windows Fax & Scan (Search in Start Menu).
  • Click New Scan and check if the scanner is detected.
  • Alternatively, try opening MS Paint > File > From Scanner or Camera to scan.

6. Check Connection (USB/WiFi)

  • If using USB, try a different cable/port.
  • If using WiFi, ensure your printer and computer are on the same network.
  • Restart your WiFi router if needed.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Press and hold the Power button and the Cancel button together for 10 seconds.
  • The printer will reset, then try scanning again.

Yes, I was able to fix it.  I hard-wired the printer to the computer and the internet router. And it was able to recognize it and self-load its drivers. Prints and scans now.

Thank you,

Gerardo
