I have a notebook with windows 11 and a HP Deskjet F4480 printer/scanner. The printer works perfectly, but when I want to scan with the HP Smart it doesn,t work and it says "error in scanner conexion". What can I do to make it work?

If you're experiencing an "error in scanner connection" message when trying to scan with your HP Deskjet F4480 printer/scanner using HP Smart, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

 

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Make sure that your printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer via USB cable or connected to your Wi-Fi network, depending on the setup.
  • Ensure that the scanner lid is closed securely.

Restart Devices:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart of both your computer and the printer can resolve communication issues. Turn off both devices, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.

Update HP Smart and Printer Software:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device.
  • Also, make sure that your printer has the latest firmware and driver updates. You can usually find these updates on the HP website.

Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Other scanner or printer management software can sometimes interfere with HP Smart. Make sure you don't have any other scanning software running in the background.

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling HP Smart and then reinstalling it from the official HP website.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block communication between the computer and the printer. Temporarily disable these security programs to see if it resolves the issue. If it does, you can adjust the settings to allow HP Smart to communicate with the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Instructions for this can usually be found in your printer's user manual or on the HP website.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can diagnose and fix common scanning and printing problems. You can download it from the HP website and run it to see if it can identify and resolve the issue.

Check Scanner Drivers:

  • Ensure that the scanner drivers are correctly installed on your computer. If they are missing or corrupted, you may need to reinstall them.

Check for Physical Issues:

  • Inspect the scanner bed and scanner lid for any obstructions or damage that could prevent proper scanning.

 

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the scanner component of your printer.
