HP ENVY 4500 e-all-in-one lost function to scan to a document

The the scan to document option is gone from my HP ENVY 4500 e-all-in-one printer. The previous scanning options were to jpeg or document. Now it is totally different; it gives scan options: Scan to computer name, Scan for print, Scan for email, Scan for fax, Scan for OCR. I need to have my printer reset back to the simplified Scan to Jpeg or document..

Hi,

open the HP Envy 4500 software, under Scan select Manage Scan to Computer.

uncheck the bottom checkbox to start with Windows and click Disable, the press the Disable button and close.

Open Manage Scan yo Computer once again, check the bottom box back and click Enable.

Now try scanning from the printer screen again, select your computer name without any additon, from there select Scan to Jpg photo or a pdf document.

I am unable to perform this instruction:  open the HP Envy 4500 software, under Scan select Manage Scan to Computer.

When I try, I get different results (not the Scan option).  Please provide more detailed instructions; specifically walk me through this change.

Hi,

When you open the HP printer assistant software for your printer (clicking the printer name on your desktop) you should get both Print and Scan sections.

As you describe to see something else, please describe what do you see when launching the HP software.

Thanks for your patience; please advise how I can get the HP printer assistant. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my HP printer three or more times (also have used my original disk). I also may have deleted print assocciated files by mistake while changing my system after receiving threatening emails.  Initially, the problem started when the printer showed scan options to jpeg or document ...at this time, the scan would not work. I then begining the search for the problem; followed by the uninstall and reinstall processes for my wireless setup. After the first reinstall, I could see that the original scan to jpeg or document no longer appeared on my printer. Also, to be noted is the fact that my computer was not a selection for the scan. It now shows Other as the destination, than the other scan options that I previously mentioned after pressing OK.

Try following HP Print and Scan Doctor below by selecting Fix Scanning, be sure to perform any step as suggested by the tool:

Performed Fixed scanning via the HP printer and scan doctor. I ran a test for scanning;  received a message  saying "The HP Envy 4500 series was not found". 

Please advise.
