This issue occurs with HP Easy Scan version 1.10.0 operating in the  MacOS Ventura version 13.2 environment. It was also happening in the last version of MacOS Catalina.  It occurred with my previous HP 6978 Office Jet Pro (Product # T0F29A; Serial # TH74R6Q12X) and now with a new HP M283fdw Color LaserJet printer/scanner (Product # 7KW75A; Serial # CNBRQC8D9V) .  Hope this helps.  Let me know. . . thanks, Andrew

Are you able to copy documents?

Meanwhile, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Uninstall and reinstall the HP easy scan.

Also, update your MAC os. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

The laserJet printer is brand new and software up top date.  The Mac operating system is the latest version.  It is HP's Easy Scan's software that needs to be updated.

The prior Ventura fix was to safe pdf as "long term preservation (PDF/A).  There is a new version of easy scan 2.0.0.  Install it  and then UN-select pdf/a when you save and it will no longer crash.

Thanks...however, App Store indicates latest available version is 1.10.0 despite MacUpdater and other sources indicating 2.0 is available at the App Store.  But will watch for it . . .

Hi @Bermant,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If HP Easy Scan crashes after updating to macOS Ventura version 13.2, here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try.

  • Update HP Easy Scan: Make sure you have the latest version of HP Easy Scan installed. Go to the App Store and check for any available updates. If an update is available, install it and try using the app again.
  • Restart your Mac: Restarting your Mac can often help resolve software issues. Try restarting your Mac and see if the app works after the restart.
  • Reset HP Easy Scan: If restarting your Mac doesn't work, try resetting HP Easy Scan. To do this, open the app, go to the HP Easy Scan menu, and choose Reset HP Easy Scan. This will reset the app to its default settings.
  • Check for compatibility issues: Make sure that HP Easy Scan is compatible with macOS Ventura version 13.2. You can check the HP website for any compatibility issues or updates.
  • Uninstall and reinstall HP Easy Scan: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling HP Easy Scan. To uninstall the app, drag the app icon to Trash. Then, download and install the latest version of HP Easy Scan from the App Store.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
