Printing works fine on this printer but for some reason, HP Easy Scan only sees an HP Envy series printer, not my mult-function printer/scanner.
Steps I've taken:
- downloaded complete driver set
- removed and re-installed my printer in my Mac System Preferences. Made my printer the default printer and there are no other printers I use or connected. Wi-fi is turned OFF on my printer as I only print via USB.
- uninstalled and re-installed HP Easy Scan(obtained from Apple App Store)
- directly connected my printer to my Mac via USB(previously connected on USB multi-port connector)
-cold booted both my printer and my Mac with printer connected
Still, I cannot scan. I've used HP Easy Scan several times over last couple of years. Now it's not recognizing my printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Screen shot below.

Hi @tacofeast,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and want to assist you. I understand that you are having issues while scanning using the HP Easy Scan on your HP LaserJet Printer. I'd be glad to be of your assistance
First off, is the printer making good copies? Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copies are coming out fine, then try to reinstall the printer drivers to completely fix the issue:
- Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
- Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51997/kj-125719-3/HP-LaserJet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.60... and install the updated printer software.
-
In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:
1. Click the “Add button” (+).
2. Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
3. Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.
-
Now try reinstalling the HP Easy Scan and check.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Yessss!! Thank you! I've been trying to get my D110 scanner HP Scan to work for a year! It would scan a page, but not save it. I was taking a screen shot and saving it as a kluge. After the latest MacOS update it completely stopped working. I installed Easy Scan and it failed to work, so I installed the driver set and that did it!!
