I actually have macOS Sonoma 14.2.1.
I just updated the HP Easy Scan software. I can scan.
However:
1. HP Easy Scan crashes when I try to edit the scan. So I currently cannot straighten a scan and cannot crop a scan.
2. The send key (where you select whether to send your items to a file or printer) highlights both items in blue when you select one.
Before updating, everything worked beautifully until this morning.

Hi @MReaddy,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with the HP scan app that is crashing on your Mac device.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) If the issue still persists, uninstall the HP easy scan app and restart the Mac device. Reinstall the HP scan application again.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

Dear Irwin6:
My scanner is an HP ScanJet Pro 2500 f1. It does not have a printer cartridge, as it is a stand-alone scanner.
When we first purchased it, it became clear that we were not able to use it wirelessly due to some macbook pro and HP incompatibility. (We have the same issue with a new wireless HP printer we purchased.) So I installed via the wired connection and we use it with the wired connection.
I will try unplugging it now, wait 5 minutes, and restart it up.

I unplugged the scanner for 10 minutes and restarted it. Again, after scanning a page and when I tried to edit the scan (such as cropping), EasyScan crashes.
Someone from HP needs to look into the "update". The fact that there are other issues (such as when you select send to a printer or folder, the entire area gets highlighted, means that the HP folks have some debugging to do.
Thank you,
MReaddy
