Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

I had this same issue (HP Easy Scan Crash since update 2-15-2024 on current Mac OS); after wasted time with tech support (and no solution), I went into TimeMachine and found last version of Easy Scan. I copied this to replace the update and app is working as expected. Do NOT install 2-15-2024 update as it will cause app to crash when trying to save file (you can use "print" and create PDF as workaround, but I prefer the old app reliability). HP Support is a joke.  They've had one month to fix this common problem or send out a patch. Clearly this isn't a priority for them.

Hi, that’s right. I also installed the old version from backup and it works fine.

Now HP will retire the App and leave me without solution for saving documents as  searchable pdfs.

when the ink is empty I will buy a Brother.

Found a solution.

1. uninstall everything you find from HP

2. go to your Library/Preferences and delete anything that looks like HP (I don't know if this step is necessary)

3. Reboot your MAC

4. Download HP Easy Start from https://support.hp.com/de-de/drivers/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m477-series/model/7326586

5. Install HP Easy Start, wich includes HP Easy Scan 2.02

6. Enjoy Scanning again.

No thanks to HP Support!

@Grobi2010 - Rest assured that I will be forever thankful for your input. It saved my day. You can now join the hall of people who were actually more helpful than the vendor itself. You my friend are the reason that the internet still has a reason to exist.

Sry - in all seriousness - I am really glad. Scanning double printed paper without the software is a nightmare. So thx again!

You made my day 😉

With my hardware/software (iMac2020, Sonoma 14.4.1 and Officejet Pro 9020) no Scan 2.02 was installed.

So I rest with my solution by installing old Easy scan from TimeMachine backup. Runs well.

Also still no further support by HP, which will decide my further buyings.

Best Regards,

Kay

The culprit is the new version HP Easy Scan 2.x. Doesn't work. Crashes immediately after launch. On my MiniMac as well as on my MacBook, both latest MacOS Sonoma 14.5. Solution: I've found the older version 1.10.0 on my Time Machine. Immediately works. Everything, including wireless printing and scanning to Computer. Unfortunately, I cannot attach a zipped app to this chat 😕

BUT: I can paste a Dropbox Link with the zipped app (HP Easy Scan 1.10.0):

Hope it works!

I have a similar problem, but it only crashes when I try to save a document. I have found a work around for this which is rather than save, select print and then select the pdf drop down bottom left and save.
