macOS includes a technology called Gatekeeper, that's designed to ensure that only trusted software runs on your Mac. For more info, refer to this document - Safely open apps on your Mac

 

To resolve this issue, follow the below steps:

 

Update HP Easy Scan: Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, click Check for Updates, and then install any available updates.

Check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

I have the same problem as the original poster and updating the software did not fix it. I am able to print but whenever I open HP Easy Scan (even after updating the software) I receive the error message "HPDM.framework" will damage your computer.

Make sure you update macOS and HP Easy Scan app.

 

If the issue persists, you may use the other 2 methods shown in this document to scan from your MAC - How to scan

Kumar,

I have already updated both macOS and HP Easy Scan app; the error message persists. 

I tried the suggestions in the document you linked. HP Smart does not seem to support my printer/scanner (HP Laserjet M1536 dnf mfp), and attempting to use Apple Image capture results in the same error message appearing about the HPDM.framework damaging my computer; it will not scan either. 

Could you please offer any other solutions?

This issue is fixed by:

1. Make sure your macOS has all the latest updates from Apple

2. Make sure your macOS has been connected to the internet in the last 48 hours or so.  The original trigger has been reversed and your macOS should get the update to stop these message.

3. If the printer is  an older device (6+ years) it may be supported by Apple Software Update.  In which case Apple just released an update today through Software Update or directly from here.

 

Also, update the printer firmware

Hi I have this problem with OS Big Sur download.

Since then I cant use scanner or printer and there is no updates shown when I eventually got it to show updates.  Most the time it doesn't even show the option to update.  I also re downloaded the easy scan app but this made no difference.
