macOS 12.0 Monterey

I just bought a new iMac.

 

Now I can't connect using HP Easy Scan.

 

It scans with HP Smart but the functionality isn't there and it's more time consuming.

 

I can't get support from HP unless I subscribe to a monthly fee when all I need is support for this one issue.

 

Clearly there's no updated firmware that will enable the printer to work with the later Mac OS so is that it?

 

I'm just forced to scrap the printer even though there's nothing wrong with it?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you getting any error messages while scanning from HP easy scan?
  • Have you tried updating the HP easy scan app?

To resolve this issue, make sure to update to the latest version of macOS and HP Easy Scan.

exact same issue - 2022 MacBook Pro with latest OS Monterey 12.4 and newly-dowloaded Easy Scan and no longer able to scan with Easy Scan - Easy Scan was kinda buggy, but worked well most of the time; the so-called "HP Smart is AWFUL - slow, slow, slow, buggy features, no sensible workflow; just want Easy Scan available but when try to use it get: "Scanner reports an error. The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.imagecapture error 4294957375.). I am able to print. HELP, before i abandon the HP ship for Epson or Brother........

Exact same issue for me.  Updated with latest Monterey and Easy Scan but just get error message when I try to scan.  Prints OK but will not scan.

Hi, Peter - wish i'd seen your reply sooner...I couldn't wait and went out and bought an Epson print/scanner that works just fine (and the included scanning software is superior to EasyScan).

Was ready to junk the HP printer, but haven't yet, so any solution would be appreciated.

 

The printer is an Officejet 5746; and, as initial note, i"m using a MacPwrBk (M1) from late 2021, running OS 12.4

Hi @PeterM12,

Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.

Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation of HP Essential Software and HP Easy Scan and check for any difference.

When is the update supposed to happen to use easy scan with OS Monterey?   I have three scanner/printers and none of them will connect to easy scan.

I have the same issue, and attempting to implement this did not fix the problem.  Have gone from the scanner hanging on "preparing to scan" and now the scanner is reporting an error. All HP software purports to be up to date.
