HP Envy 4507
Microsoft Windows XP

Tried to download HP recommended "previous" version of HP Doctor (I am on XP) but download failed repeatedly. Has it been discontinued?

My intended use of my Envy 4507 is ONLY as a scanner, but brilliant red comes out as a very washed out grayish pink on the .png image scanned to my computer.

I need to scan books, comics and art, so accurate color is vital.

Welcome to HP support community.

You can use this application to scan using your Windows XP computer:- Click here

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Thank you for trying to provide a solution.

I have previously downloaded that file: HP print & Scan Doctor 4.9.1, and have performed a Test Scan but the result is the same.

Even after all the features have been updated, driver(s) checked, etc. via this program, result is the same -- very washed out pale pink, not vibrant day-glo red!

It is a bit of a stretch, but is it possible that the color quality of my scan is dependent upon HP print ink being fully loaded? Not that I intend printing, as the scans are purely for online use. However, I can see that the only means HP has of generating income from my printer/scanner is by having me load it with HP ink.

Sadly, clicking the link (in the Doctor) for "Support and Troubleshooting specifically for your product" opens a new online page: https://www8.hp.com/gb/en/support.html -- which is an OOOPS! page advising:

We can't find that page, but here's the good news - we've got other ways to find what you need....

And here we go again.

Back where we started.

Please advise.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.
