Thanks for the reply and trying the suggested steps. Copy function of the printer is independent of the settings on the computer. (it is a standalone feature of the printer.)
Recommend you try contacting our phone support to check for any trade-in or upgrade options available for your printer.
Keep me posted.

Hi @David2319,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.
I understand that you are getting scanner problem error on your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer.
This could be a hardware issue with the unit.
Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.
And here's the step by step guide for you to reset the printer:
1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
If the issue persists, then I suggest that you contact HP phone support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp
You have a good day ahead.

Hi, Rainbow 23,
Thanks for your response, I did everything you suggested, but it didn't fix the problem. I tried to contact
customer
support, but that failed as well. I was thinking of deleting the printer from my computer entirely and then starting all over by reinstalling everything. Do you think this woud work, or is it easier to just buy a new printer and be done with it?
