Hi! @SteveW5555, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have scan to email issues with your printer.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Are you performing scan to folder or scan to email from your printer?
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Envy 4527 do not provide digital filing capabilities such as a commercial printer as you describe.
The HP Envy 4527 do not provide any stand alone Scan to Email feature, it only provide a such through the HP Software if you have a mail client installed and configured on your computer.
You may follow the steps below top scan to email if you have a mail client such as Outlook installed and configured on your computer, if no such email client exists and use a webmail account such as Gmail.com you will need to scan as a file and manually attach the file through your email.
Refer the printer user guide to know more information about scan to computer. Click Here
Note: Refer page 22 for more information.

Hi Thanks for all the advice.
The issue has now been resolved by running a repair on Office 2010, I have been using outlook without any issues and was not aware there could have been a corruption. Once I had run the Office repair tool via the change option in Add/Remove programs I found after rebooting the laptop and re-testing scan to email option a new Outlook email would open and the attachment was automatically attached. Which is exaclty what I needed the software to do.
Thanks again for your help and this issue can be considered resolved.
