HP Envy 5055 closes scanning job before I can add another document

Greetings,

Whenever I attempt to scan multiple documents into one PDF, using the control panel on the printer, my HP Envy 5055 printer quickly assumes that I'm finished and then proceeds to create a file.

For example....

(1) I successfully get paper #1 scanned.  No problem whatsoever.

(2) When I push the add "add item" button on the touch screen control panel, the printer only gives me literally eight seconds for me to place paper #2 onto the glass and push the scan button.  Otherwise, it will save paper #1 automatically as a PDF.  

So how do I make my HP Envy 5055 printer hold its horses long enough for me to get paper #2 onto the glass? 

I'm only human, ergo sometimes I need longer than eight seconds to get paper #2 ready.

Unfortunately,there is no option to increase the scan duration for multiple pages.

What other HP printers, if any, do not automatically save scan material within a timeframe of a few seconds?

I am unaware of a printer with timeframe for multiple scans .

I'll rephrase the question: is there an HP printer that does not automatically save a scanned document to PDF within seven seconds? I resent how the HP Envy 5055 saves my scanned document automatically without waiting for me to load the next paper onto the glass bed.
