Envy 5540

Just purchased a new Mac.  Envy works fine as printer, but from printer touch screen, if I tap scan it says "no computer found".

I have downloaded both HP Smart and Easy Scan and neither helps in scanning directly from the Envy touch screen -- computer still not found.  Mac OS, printer firmware, etc is all up to date.

Much of the documentation online tells you to find HP folder, click on HP utility, and enable "scan to computer."  But there is no longer an "HP utility" on Envy 5540 product support page.  The only "driver" listed is HP Smart.

Within HP Smart, under Advanced Settings there is something that says "Scan to computer" but it does not appear to be something I can turn on or off.

I would really like to be able to scan from the printer, as I was able to do with my previous Mac.  It is far less convenient to have to walk to the printer, place a document on it, then walk back to computer and scan from there, repeating the process several times for larger documents.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi,
Follow HP Easy Start below to download the latest HP Essential Software and HP Easy Scan for your printer:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Additionally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
If any updates are available click Update Now to make sure the latest OS updates are installed, this is crucial for HP Easy Scan to work as expected.

Finally, from the Applications folder select HP and open HP Utility and ensure that Scan to Computer is enabled.

If you cannot find a shortcut, open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and double-click the printer.

Select Printer Settings and open the Utility tab, then press on Open Utility and ensure that Scan to Computer is enabled.

I appreciate the link but unfortunately that piece of software does not work for me.  I run it and select the HP Essentials software to install, enter my admin password, and then nothing happens.  The app says "Install" and has Essentials listed with a very pale progress bar and nothing happens at all.  The "continue" button is also a pale blue and cannot be clicked.  Even clicking the "cancel" button does nothing,

I have tried to use the app to download only the Essentials software and Essentials + Help and both have the same result.

As I said, I have downloaded HP Smart and printer prints fine.  But I do not have an HP utility app that I can find, and I do not see a "utility" tab on my printer's page in system preference. (It has "General" and "Supply Levels").

Is there another location to download the HP Essentials from, if that is the issue?  Again, the only software on the printer's support page is the HP Smart,
