I am getting an error message saying the computer is not connected. But it is. I can print fine, and everything is plugged in properly.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:
1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)
The following resource will help you :
http://123.hp.com/us/en/
Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.
3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:
How to Uninstall Download & Reinstall a Printer software
How to Scan to Computer
Once you have installed the software:
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)
Scan to Computer
Scan to Computer (New UI)
How to use "Scan to Computer" properly
Hope that helps!

Hello Sparkerart,
Green Turtle's plan is good, he's an expert. You might try this first, your computer is just not wirelessly connected to the printer. Reboot the modem, printer and computer, by turning all three off, leaving the modem off 60 seconds and then power up each successively in that order. Let each completely turn on (no flashing lights). Green turtle's ideas about "Enable Scan to Computer" etc. possibly are needed (and could be the root of the problelm). Good luck. I am not an HP employee.

Despite being connected and able to print wirelessly, computer message when I try to scan is that I am not connected.
Forum says uninstall and reinstall, but not online. I have no software with the printer, and was told to do everything (drivers etc) online. at hp.123.
I am so far quite disappointed with what was supposed to be an all-in-one printer/scanner.
