HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I have had this problem before and solved it by reinstalling the software.  This lasted about 6 months and it happened again.  Any advice.  No, there has not been any Internet change, no new routers, no new computers, no software added, etc.  I can print from my iphone fine, but not from the laptop.  There has got to be a simple reason. Oh and I am using HP computers.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Batmane,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 6400 printer is connecting to the mobile app but not the laptop app, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the problem.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Double-check that your laptop's Wi-Fi is turned on and connected to the network.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and laptop, and then turn them back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 6400 printer. If so, update the firmware as it may contain fixes for connectivity issues.

Update Printer Software:

  • Make sure you have the latest HP printer software installed on your laptop. Download and install the latest printer drivers and software from the HP website.

Check Firewall and Security Software:

  • Sometimes, firewall or security software on your laptop can block the connection to the printer. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software and see if you can connect.

Reinstall the Printer on Laptop:

  • Remove the printer from your laptop and then reinstall it. Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners" (on Windows) or "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners" (on macOS). Remove the printer and then add it again.

Check Printer Configuration:

  • On your printer, make sure it is set up to allow connections from your laptop. Check the printer's settings, and if there are any access control or security settings, ensure they are configured correctly.

Restart Router:

  • Sometimes, the issue may be with the router. Try restarting your Wi-Fi router and then attempt to connect the laptop to the printer again.

Check for IP Address Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no IP address conflicts on your network. Devices with duplicate IP addresses can cause connectivity problems.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the connectivity issue between your HP Envy 6400 printer and your laptop app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
