Hi I've just replaced my old iMac with a new mac mini M4 which is running sequoia. Since doing that I'm unable to scan from the touch pad on the printer. It works fine if I use the scan via the software on the computer. It tells me I nee drivers from123.hp.com/setup. However these have already been installed. I have deleted and reinstalled as well. Any help and advice please colin

@huw53, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
While scanning from the computer works, the "Scan to Computer" feature from the printer's control panel may not function due to macOS privacy and network permission changes.
Here are steps to help restore scanning from the printer's touchscreen:
Check Local Network Permissions
macOS Sequoia restricts device communication unless explicitly allowed.
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network
- Ensure HP Scanner 3, HP Device Monitor, and HP Utility are toggled ON
Disable Firewall Temporarily
Some users found the macOS firewall blocks scanner communication.
- Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall
- Toggle Firewall OFF (temporarily for testing)
Note: Your Mac is still protected behind your router. You can re-enable the firewall after testing.
Reinstall HP Software
Even if you've installed drivers from 123.hp.com/setup, a clean reinstall may help.
- Uninstall existing HP software
- Download and install the latest from: Official HP® Support
Enable “Scan to Computer”
This feature must be enabled from the HP Utility or HP Smart app.
- Open HP Utility (or HP Smart if it works)
- Go to Scan Settings > Scan to Computer
- Click Enable
If HP Smart doesn’t work on macOS Sequoia, try setting up the printer using the HP Smart app on an iPhone or Android device.
Reset Printer Settings
Sometimes a factory reset helps re-establish communication.
- On the printer touchscreen:
Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults
Additional Tips
- Use AirPrint: If HP drivers are buggy, macOS can use AirPrint for basic scan/print functions.
- Try HP Easy Scan: Available on the Mac App Store, it may work better than HP Smart on Sequoia.
- Firmware Update: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware via HP Support
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

Dear Max3Aj,
Thank you for your detailed reply. I should tell you that since listing my post I did contact HP technical support and they told me that they have discontinued "scan from touchpad " on my printer. However I went through your detail recommendations point by point......still the same. I then repeated but this time after deleting everything I set the printer up via the phone, and now everything works fine!!
Thank you very much for you're help, i do appreciate that its perhaps a minor item not being able to scan from the printer but am extremely pleased that with you're help it now works.
regards
Colin

@huw53, Thank you so much for your kind message and for the update!
I'm really glad to hear that setting up the printer via your phone resolved the issue and that you're now able to scan from the touchpad again. It's true that HP has been phasing out certain legacy features, especially with newer macOS versions like Sequoia, but your persistence and methodical approach made all the difference.
If you ever need help again, feel free to reach out. Wishing you smooth printing and scanning ahead!
Warm regards,
Max3Aj
