HP Envy Photo 7858 ADF not working

My ADF stopped working.  I can however, print & scan using the glass flatbed.  I've researched other forums, followed the directions without any success.  When I insert the paper, it doesn't go in all the way in and I don't get the "ding" when the ADF recognizes the paper.  This seems to be more a mechanical issue.  Rollers appear clean, however access to them appears to be difficult on this model.  When I raise the ADF feed tray, I can't see how to gain anymore access to the larger feed rollers.  The initial roller mechanisms move up and down, but it also seems to be what's blocking the paper.  I really don't want to replace this printer.
