My HP Envy Pro 6455 will print from my PC and mobile devices.  It will not scan from PC.  It is connected via cable at present.  I've tried wireless, but it doesn't work.

If your HP Envy Pro 6455 can print but won’t scan, it might be due to a few common issues related to drivers, software, or connectivity. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the scanning problem:

1. Check Scanner Connection and Settings:

  • Cable Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. Try using a different USB port on your computer.
  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and your computer, wait for a few seconds, then turn them back on.

2. Verify Printer Software and Drivers:

  • HP Smart App: Install or update the HP Smart app on your computer. This app is often used for scanning and might help in detecting the scanner.
  • Driver Update: Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for the HP Envy Pro 6455. Installing the latest drivers can often resolve issues with scanning.

3. Check Scanner Settings on PC:

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your HP Envy Pro 6455 and select See what's printing to check the status of the printer. Also, check under Devices and Printers for the scanning option.
  • Windows Fax and Scan: Search for “Windows Fax and Scan” in your start menu and try scanning from there.
  • Mac: Open the Printers & Scanners section in System Preferences, select your printer, and try using the Scan tab.

4. Ensure HP Services Are Running:

  • Windows: Open Services (search for it in the start menu), and make sure that the HP Service or HP Support Solutions Framework is running.

5. Update Firmware:

  • Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. This can be done via the HP Smart app or the HP support website.

6. Check Scan to Computer Settings:

  • HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app, go to Printers, select your printer, and make sure the Scan to Computer option is enabled.
  • Control Panel: On the printer itself, check the control panel for any settings related to scanning or connectivity.

7. Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall/Reinstall: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, uninstall the HP software, then reinstall it from the HP website.
