I logged on just now and for some reason the only thing that does not work is scanning. Printing documents and using the copy feature works fine. When I attempt to scan it seems to search forever before an error message displays that it cannot communicate with the scanner and to restart and check firewall settings which have not changed and i have checked several times. Using Toshiba laptop running window 7 64bit

It sounds like the firewall is blocking communication from the printer to the computer, but allowing communication from the computer to the printer. That is why printing works, but scanning doesn't. Try turning off the firewall and then scan. If it works, open the ports at the end of this post. Let me know what happens.

I am having a similar issue. My scanner will not scan a document but I am able to send documents to print without any issues. I turned off the Firewall and tried again but had no luck. This is a new printer/scanner so I cannot image issues with the machine - can you help?
