When I try to scan from the feeder tray to my computer, it will only scan from the flatbed. Yes, the screen states "document loaded", but it will not scan anything from the feeder tray. It will copy anything you put in the feeder tray, but it will not scan from the feeder. It will scan from the feeder tray using HP scan assistant as well as Windows fax and scan though. Scanning from the feeder tray to my computer has always worked for me in the past when I used it, but I haven't used it in a while. I have done everything I can think of to remedy the situation, none of the "solutions" I have found online have helped.

Hi @David659,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried a few troubleshooting steps without success. Let's try a few more.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve many issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a few moments, and then turn it back on.
- Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up to date. You can usually find updates on the HP website or through the printer's control panel menu.
- Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer to its factory settings can sometimes fix software glitches. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu.
- Check Scanner Settings: Make sure that the scanner settings are configured correctly. Sometimes there might be an option to select between flatbed and feeder tray scanning.
- Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Even if the feeder tray seems to be functioning for copying, there might be a small obstruction or sensor issue preventing it from scanning to the computer. Check for any paper jams or debris in the feeder tray area.
- Update Scanner Drivers: Ensure that your computer has the latest scanner drivers installed. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues.
- Try a Different Computer: If possible, try scanning from a different computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem is with the printer or the computer.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help resolve the issue with scanning from the feeder tray to your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I thought that I would receive an email notification for replies to my query, so I didn't realize there were any responses to me until I logged on to the HP Smart app to set up my printers on another computer.
I have done all of what applies to my issue a few times, and when rereading my post I realized that I did not state my issue correctly. It will scan from the feeder tray from the HP Smart or HP Scan app, but when trying to scan to the computer from the touch screen on the printer it will only scan from the flatbed, even when I have a document in the feeder tray and "document loaded" is displayed on the touch screen.
It's not a big deal now because I moved the printer, so now I have to get up from my chair to access the screen. It's actually easier to just to do it from the HP Smart or scan app.
Thanks for the input, and I will mark it "accept as solution" to close it(?).
