Product: HP Office Jet Pro 6978
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina
Whenever I want to scan, my computer name doesn't show up under the scan to computer option on the actual scanner. My Dell shows up, but neither of my macs (I have 2). I can scan to the Macs, but only using my laptop as the controller, not the screen on the scanner, as it doesn't recognize the macs. It recognizes the Dell automatically.
 
The screen says to enable scan to computer, but that is not option, as I don't have HP utility and it can no longer be downloaded. 
 
Really hoping something will work! Will check back and answer any questions!

Hi,

Follow HP Easy Start below, the latest HP Essential Software should be checked, as well as the HP Easy Scan option:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

 

Once completing the installation, the HP Essential Software, including the HP Utility which is now installed, should allow enabling Scan to Computer, you should likely be able to scan from the printer as soon as the install completes.
