Hi @CJRHJ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

On the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e, the "Fit to Page" setting can be found in the Copy menu on the printer's control panel. Here’s how to access it.

  1. Turn on the printer and ensure it's ready for use.
  2. Select "Copy" from the home screen on the printer's touchscreen.
  3. Choose "Settings" or "Resize" (the exact wording may vary).
  4. Look for an option labeled "Fit to Page" or "Resize to Fit".
  5. Select "Fit to Page" to enable it.

This setting will scale your copy to fit the size of the paper in the tray, which is helpful for documents that may otherwise be cut off or too small on the page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

It took a lot more steps for me to find the “Fit to Page” setting on my HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e:

Copy

Document Copy

Clicked on icon that apparently means “Options”

On the “Options” menu I found “Print options”

Then “Output scale”

Then “Fit to page”.

But then I couldn’t figure out from there, how to actually copy my document that I was trying to enlarge. How do I copy it from there?

I also saw there is a “Click start” option, but I couldn’t get that set up either. Help please!

Hi @CJRHJ,

Thank you for your response,

It sounds like you've been able to locate the "Fit to Page" option on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e, but are having trouble using it to actually start the copy process with the enlargement. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you.

Access the Copy Menu:

  • From the home screen on the printer’s touchscreen, select Copy.

Navigate to Options:

  • In the Copy menu, go to Document Copy and then click on the Options icon (which may look like a settings or gear icon).

Select Output Scale:

  • Under Print Options, choose Output Scale and then select Fit to Page.

Start the Copy:

  • Once you've selected Fit to Page, return to the main copy screen.
  • Adjust any other settings if needed, such as color or paper size, then press Start or the Copy button to begin the process.

If the above steps don't work or if you’re still experiencing issues, here are some advanced troubleshooting steps.

  • Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer’s firmware is updated. You can check for firmware updates in the Settings menu or via the HP Smart app.
  • Reset Settings: If the settings appear unresponsive, perform a soft reset on your printer (turn it off, unplug for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on).
  • HP Smart App: Try using the HP Smart app on a computer or smartphone to initiate the copy with the "Fit to Page" setting, as the app sometimes provides additional options and easier navigation.

If this still doesn’t resolve your issue, you may want to perform a factory reset, which can often resolve hidden configuration issues

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I followed every one of your instructions and it still won't "fit to page" when I make a copy. I even did the factory reset, which was a big bother since I had to set up the printer all over again. I never used "fit to page" too often with my old HP, but since my husband has low vision, it was very helpful occasionally to make something bigger so that he could see it better.

Hi @CJRHJ,

Thank you for your response,

If you've already gone through the initial steps for setting "Fit to Page" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and performed a factory reset without success, here are some more advanced troubleshooting steps you can try.

Firmware Update

  • Check for Updates: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can do this by:
    • Accessing the printer's control panel.
    • Navigating to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer or Firmware Update.
    • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer to check for firmware updates.

Use HP Smart App for Copying

  • HP Smart App: Sometimes, using the HP Smart app provides a more intuitive interface:
    • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
    • Add your printer if it’s not already listed.
    • Select Copy, and look for the "Fit to Page" option.
    • Follow the prompts to initiate the copy.

Double-Check Settings

  • Copy Settings: After you select "Fit to Page," ensure no other settings are conflicting:
    • Go back to the Options menu in the Copy settings.
    • Make sure the paper size matches what you're using (e.g., A4, Letter).
    • Ensure there are no other scaling settings selected that could override "Fit to Page."

Change Default Settings

  • Default Copy Settings: You may want to change the default copy settings:
    • Go to Settings > Copy > Default Copy Settings.
    • Set "Fit to Page" as the default option, if available.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on to refresh its settings.

Try a Different Copy Source

  • Different Document: Sometimes, the issue can be with the specific document you are trying to copy. Try using a different document or image to see if the "Fit to Page" feature works correctly.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues with the "Fit to Page" setting on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4,

Even with all your additional advanced troubleshooting steps, I still can’t get it to “Fit to Page”, although I was unable to do the step “Use HP Smart App for Copying”. I have the EP Smart App and I can see my printer there, but I cannot find “Copy” to select it. If you still think it’s something that would help, please send me details of where to find it.

Below is a screenshot of what I see in the EP Smart App: Nothing there for “Copy” so I clicked on “Printer settings” thinking it might be under that option. I put in the pin for my printer, but still didn’t see anything for “Copy”.

Anyway, I'm becoming very unhappy with this printer. I frequently used “Fit to Page” on my HP 8710 and it was simple to use since it was right on the home screen on the printer. We also mostly copy in draft grayscale, but sometimes we want to copy in color. That option also was right on the home screen on the 8710 printer and my 81-year old husband (who’s very technically challenged) was even able to do it himself. This 9125e is too complicated for me, so I’m thinking I’d like to return it (to BestBuy). Can you suggest another HP all-in-one printer that would be more like the HP 8710?

Sorry for all the trouble!

Hi @CJRHJ,

Thank you for your response,

It sounds like the OfficeJet Pro 9125e's user interface, especially on the HP Smart App, is indeed more complex and less intuitive compared to your previous OfficeJet 8710, which can be frustrating. Let’s go over the options for locating “Fit to Page” and making copies, and I’ll also suggest some alternative HP models that might offer a more straightforward experience.

Locating “Fit to Page” on the OfficeJet Pro 9125e:

  • On the Printer Control Panel: The 9125e may not have a dedicated “Fit to Page” button on the home screen like the 8710, but you should be able to find this option when you start a copy.
  • When in Copy Mode on the control panel, look for “Settings” or “Resize” options (sometimes found in “Copy Settings”) to locate “Fit to Page.”
  • Draft Grayscale/Color Options: These should also appear under “Copy Settings” after selecting “Copy” on the printer itself. Once you’ve set this, the printer should remember your settings for future copies.

Using the HP Smart App for “Copy” Functions:

  • Accessing Copy: If you can’t see the “Copy” option in your HP Smart App, it might be a limitation of the app version or setup for your printer model. Some app versions have “Copy” as a quick action, while others may require a different navigation.
  • Alternative App: You might try reinstalling the HP Smart App, as updates occasionally add or adjust features. Otherwise, the primary control panel on the printer may be more effective for copying.

Alternative HP All-in-One Printers Similar to the HP 8710:

Since the HP OfficeJet 8710 model had a straightforward layout and user-friendly copy options, here are a few recommendations for models that aim to balance simplicity with functionality.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e: This model has a user-friendly interface and options like “Fit to Page” and color/grayscale copy settings in accessible menus. It’s simpler than the 9125e and might offer a smoother experience.
  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e: Slightly more compact, this model has easy-to-access “Copy” settings and fewer complex features, which can make it easier to navigate for everyday copying.

If you decide to return the 9125e, these models might be closer to the intuitive setup you’re looking for.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm going to return the 9125e. Thanks for the other models that you suggested. I'm also seeing the HP Office Jet Pro 8015e, which (from the display screen) looks even simpler, more like the 8710. Is it?
