I use the HP Smart app on both my laptop (MacBook Pro Monterey 12.2.1) and my iPhone (iOS 15.4).
I use the app on my laptop to scan, so I know my printer, an HP Officejet 5200, has the capability to do so, and to accept the scan command remotely through the HP Smart app. I print with no problems from my iPhone using HP Smart, so I know my phone and my printer can communicate using the HP Smart app.
When I select "Printer Scan" on my iPhone using HP Smart, I get a message that the feature is unavailable, and is not supported by the selected printer.
There are no firmware updates for the printer. I have deleted and reinstalled the HP Smart app on my iPhone.
What else do I need to do to be able to send a scan command from my iPhone to the printer? I see that someone asked this question about a year ago, but I didn't see a solution in response.

@missbev, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to scan from the iOS device
Which version of the HP Smart app are you using?
Go to HP Smart>About HP Smart. (The current version is 13.5.0)
Make sure the app is up to date. Check for updates in the App Store.
Also, update the iOS device.
Restart the printer.
To know how to scan, refer to - How to scan with an HP printer
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Hello,
Could you please post screenshots of the message you are seeing that states scanning is not compatible? Our engineering team needs the screenshot to investigate the issue.
