HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all, as the title suggests, I'm about to buy one of these printers that I mentioned in the title (I'm also more inclined to buy the 9022e, which is the most complete), but in this regard I need to clarify some aspects that I they are still unclear.

I state that I come from an HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 purchased from 2014, which I have always used through HP Instant Ink, so I know the HP world well.

I describe my doubts in the form of bullet points:

1. PRINT REMOTELY
Regarding the printers I would like to buy, I didn't quite understand if these have the remote printing function, so via the HP Smart app while I'm on a mobile network or other WiFi network, I know that it can be done via HP ePrint email , but it's a whole other thing, (although quite uncomfortable).

2.SMBv2/SMBv3 SUPPORT
With my HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 about a year ago I ended up with SMBv1 compatibility completely disabled by HP, and this was a real tragedy for me, as my work doubled all at once , do these new printers now support these standards?

3. Can you explain to me why the mentioned printer models are "regressing" compared to the past?
I'm talking about regression because these new printers don't have things I had in my printers of the past, for example: a very trivial thing like the USB front reader is only in the TOP 9022e version, in all the others it is missing, and wherever there is it's just a USB 2.0 !!! (moreover in my old HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 that was a USB 2.0 HS, i.e. High Speed) this thing is really SCANDALOUS (i.e. we are in 2023, absurd), the WiFi is only "a/b/g/n", therefore missing the "ac" protocol, but in the rest of the world WiFi other manufacturers have already reached WiFi 6.0, NFC has obviously got lost along the way (because none of the models I've seen have it).

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give me a hand by answering my request for information.

Have a good day everyone 🙂

Welcome to the HP Community --

I rarely offer opinions about "should I do this or that" -- aside from price, subjective reasoning is why most people buy anything.

In this case - at this writing - amongst the products currently available:

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e is includes the most features of the three models you have included in your checklist.

For example, at this writing, the top of line OfficeJet Pro 902* series is most like the venerable 8600, 8620, 8640 models of their time.

Of the more obvious benefits of the top-of-line:

Automatic 2-sided scan

Inclusion / Support for the Universal Scan Software package

Regressing

A home or small office printer that in centered in the very best network you can purchase, configure, and install, is perhaps not going to suffer an overly  noticeable degradation of service.

True -- if ultimate speed, fastest package exchange, and best performance are all top-of-line in every area except your printer, you might be missing something you might have had.

If you are scandalized, purchase products that won't leave you feeling that way.

Being miserable about your tech choices can make you sad and contribute to stress.

Hi, as you can see from the photos, I didn't find any button (maybe I didn't see it) on the web server of my HP Officejet Pro 8620 that gave me the possibility to activate/deactivate the SMBv1 protocol (because it seems to me that it was eliminated by HP for serious vulnerability issues), however I needed to understand if the new HP multifunction's, in particular the HP Officejet Pro 9022e, have the SMBv2, v3, and following protocols, because I don't think they were mentioned in the message previous.

You are welcome.

I can answer your question to the extent of providing an example from my printer EWS readout.

Example - OfficeJet Pro 9025 (non-e version)

I would guess -- and cannot confirm -- that the 8022e is also similar to the example.

EWS > Network > Advanced Settings > SMB

 SMB v1 / CIFS
 SMB v2
 SMB v3
Note:
  1. At least one setting must be selected

My problem is that until I get a confirmation from some HP support expert that the HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e supports SMBv3 I won't be able to buy it, although I assume that if your 9020 already has it it should have it also the 9022e.

Now I try to contact technical assistance, let's see what they tell me.

Thank you very much for helping.

Good day

OK.

You are welcome.

There is no reason the same model would be missing the updated SMB setup.

9022 and 9025 (both e and non-e versions) are essentially the same printer sold in different markets.

The "e" version is newer -- the "e" versions, in locations where the service is available - are legible for HP+ .

That said, there is no problem in so much that I shall not convince you of that which you cannot see.

These are expensive printers home use - it makes sense to be sure you get what you want.

Good Luck.

Greetings,

I bought the HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e printer, but I realized that this one no longer has the personalized address that the old printer had. (username@hpeprint.com).

I used this address a lot, because I had set up automatic email forwarding which made me trigger printing via HPePrint.

As you rightly told me, HPePrint is gone, but I thought the personalized email address would remain, do you know any method to activate the personalized email address even on new printers?

Thank you in advance

@Vin24

You cannot reuse an old / previously used printer email address.

Change the address enough that it's "just different enough" and start fresh.

But I think you can't really do this, I don't think that in the new printers there is the possibility of combining a personalized email address.

I tried searching within HP Smart and then the EWS Server of the new printer, but I couldn't find any option that gives me the possibility to associate the new printer with a personalized email address to which to send print jobs.

If I have to change it, I can easily change it, but I don't think there is really this function, or I can't find it.
