We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

When I scan a document from the document feeder, I have the options to share, print, save with no problems.  However, when I scan something from the glass, those options are all grayed out and I am unable to do anything. Why?

Try these steps:

Check Software Settings:

  • Ensure that the HP software installed on your computer is correctly configured. Sometimes, settings might limit the functionality based on how the document is scanned.

Update the HP Software:

  • Make sure that your HP printer software and drivers are updated to the latest version. You can download the latest drivers and software from the HP Support website.

Review Scan Settings:

  • Examine your scan settings, particularly the destination options set within the HP software. Ensure that all destination options are enabled.

Default Scan Preferences:

  • Reset scan preferences to default settings in the HP software. Sometimes misconfigured preferences can restrict certain functionalities.

Use HP Scan Software:

  • When scanning via the glass, make sure you use the HP Scan software. The options and functionalities might differ from the default Windows/Mac scanning utilities.

Check Connection:

  • Verify that all connections between your computer and printer are secure, especially if using a USB connection. Network issues can sometimes lead to unexpected restrictions.

System Reboot:

  • Restart your computer as well as the printer to ensure all settings are refreshed.
