Hi guys,

First of all my apologies for my poor English.

I encountered an issue with the scanner integrated. I have big colored lines in 1/3 of the picture scanned.

Tried with software, directly with printer itself.

Please could you tell me if you already have seen this type of issue and what can be related (cable ribbon issue, connection issue or the scan is partially dead).

The printer itself is used a lot but not the scanner.

I remain at your disposal to clarify my words if unclear (please refer to the picture hereafter for more details)

Hello @Titomno2 .
Keep your printer away from a microwave or washing machine, also check if it is not directly hit by the sun's rays, so you can also remove it from a window.

Update the printer firmware:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/ojp9010/2135/OJP9010_2135A.exe

Eliminate the error by resetting the printer without the ink cartridges.
Open the cartridge access door or cover.
If the carriage moves toward the center of the printer, continue with these steps.
If the carriage does not move toward the center of the printer, close the access door or cover. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power supply, wait 60 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the printer and to a wall outlet. Turn on the printer and then continue with these steps.
Remove the cartridges.
With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
Disconnect the power cord from the power supply.
Wait 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and into the printer.
NOTE: HP recommends that you plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Turn on the printer.
Reinsert the cartridges, and then close the cartridge access door or cover.
Follow the steps to align the printer if prompted.

Thank you gold_master.

Update of the firmware is not possible, the firmware is already up to date (Etat = state, A jour = Up to date

I am a bit afraid of to retrieve all the cartridge because you say it may ask me to proceed to realign and from my side it may require the scanner to work properly.

But for the moment printing is working just fine (no issue on that), only scanner which I use not so much is not working properly anymore).

Regarding your advice, the printer is far from microwaves, far from any electrical motor and the plugged after inverter (APC with brand new battery).

Could you confirm if there is a risk for align procedure if the scanner is still not working properly.

By the way I use instant ink services.

Best Regards,

@Titomno2 .

There should be no problem if you perform the alignment.

Operation done,

Everything was almost automatic, except an error message indicating I should use the power button to shut down properly the printer :-).

But I have still the same behavior of the scanner (I repeat the printing process is just fine), it is only when scanning.

I think I am out of the warranty, so may-be if you have some advice on how to check the ribbon cable on scanner could be helpfull, I have in the past a similar issue with the screen on 8600 pro that cable after a lot of pages slightly go out of the connector and create half working menu screen.

I'm a bit sad that for a printer of that price and how well I take care of it (dry place, original cartridge, no known EMI nearby) it is already half of the printer out of order, it is a bit frustrating.

Whatever thank you for your time and if you have any advice or maintenance manual to share with me (it will be christmas soon :-)), I will be more than happy.

Stay safe and have a nice day.

Best regards,

Hi guys,

Now I have more time to deal with my issue and hereafter you will find some more information.

First of all, the reset procedure did not change anything, still lines are visibles.

I tried a second time taking much more delay between unplug and plug in back the cable (2 minutes instead of 60s) => still no improvement.

I use only the internal function of the printer to get rid of any issue with Operating Software and Drivers.

So I tried to open also the upper cover (the one with all the scanner and feeder as you can see the Cartridges and the guts of the printer) => I suspect an issue with the ribbons cables.

I close gently everything and tried a new scan and surprise I have a lot less colored lines => this is why I think it could be an issue with ribbon cable (may be not correctly connected).

My thought is that under heavy printing the vibration inside the printer are so important that may be the scanner ribbon may have go slighty out of the pins causing this issue.

Of course I have to open myself the printer as it is not more under warranty and the cost to send it for inspection and repear will be too much for me (waste of time and money).

I will try to keep you posted if I find the solution so it may help other people.

I have seen a couple of video on 9015 dissassembly with looks like pretty the same (it terms of covers and fixation).

I have seen at least 4 ribbons comming from the top cover scanner and feeder and going to the mainboard which is located on the left (when you are looking straight to the face of the printer).

I hope I'm clear enough and if not ask me again I will be happy to re-phrase my words.

Best Regards

Merry Christmas and happy new year.
